I was living, but I felt like I was dead

My husband would beat me so badly that I couldn’t move afterwards.  I gave birth to two children, but the violence continued. Even when he decided to go abroad to work, I was still terrified of him. He used to insult and threaten me over the phone.

One day I was sitting in front of the house, feeling completely hopeless. A woman saw and she asked me, ‘Do you need help?’ I replied without hesitation, ‘Yes, I do.’  She told me about Mission Without Borders and I felt a new sense of hope. When I first met Arjana, the staff member who supports us, I felt love that I’d never felt before.  She knew nothing of my life, of the darkness I was in, but she said to me, ‘Despite the situation you’re going through, you can make it. Our Lord knows and cares for you.’ Those words touched my heart.

I began to feel strong in God, to feel secure in my salvation, to read God’s Word and to go on with my faith. I started to understand that I must live and not die, for my children and myself.  Now I’ve found the strength to respect myself, to fight for my family, to look for any temporary jobs I can find, and to work so I can provide something for my kids.

I’ve been saved from living in darkness and from death.
