We are a Christian Mission involved in helping people mainly in
Eastern Europe.
Our History
Mission Without Borders was founded in 1960 in response to the
material and spiritual needs of people living in poverty or
suffering persecution in Communist Europe. Our work began when the
Cold War was at its most intense. In Eastern Europe, a rigid
political system had demanded strict loyalty, and those who dared
to disagree suffered imprisonment and death. Literally millions of
Christians were persecuted for their beliefs. Many paid with their
lives and still do in various parts of the world.
The unregistered underground church was our mission field,
reflected in our name at the time - Underground
Evangelism, and later Aid to the Persecuted.
Our work today
Today, Mission Without Borders is an international Christian
organisation dedicated to serving the physical, emotional and
spiritual needs of those suffering the effects of poverty or
persecution. We have fundraising offices throughout the world, with
our international headquarters in North America.
MWB employs local staff enabling us to identify and address the
most important local needs. Working this way we support the local
economy and - after all, the local people know their own needs and
culture best.
Through our staff in each of our field countries we are
assisting thousands of abandoned children, single mothers, the
elderly and poverty stricken families in Eastern Europe.
